Root, you said that you are a progam director, please answer my question.

What programs directors thinks about medicine in France ?

It seems that they appreciate more a few months US observership than 10 years of work experience as doctor in France...

It's true or it 's a bad joke ?!

They do not know that France has one of the most powerful healt care systems in Europe and an excelent medical school ? One guy aked me if I have worked in Germany....

Regards.

US observership is considered more favorably so is most western medical experience.

US standards may be different French or German health care system.

No need to overanalyze; try to be patient and have good marks.

Again it all depends on your marks, visa if you want one, and your previous experience.

your step1 score is good, but step2 score is low.

You should tell the hospitals you are interviewing that you dont need any visa. you can probably get TN visa if you have canadian citizenship.

Generally NJ has tougher time attracting candidates because most hospitals look for candidates with no visa issues or candidates that require J1 visa.

With your 10 years experience in France should come pretty handy. Present yourself with positive impression. Please go through this site and go to the interview section and read through those material. That should help you much.

Best of luck , you should get matched Smile

In this moment I am sending e-mails to programs directors asking for criteria. Most of them answer, but criteria I am reading give me a little bit headache...
No more then 3 - 5 -7 or 10 years of graduation, US clinical experience and so on...

Do you think I should send applications in programs witch have cut off on graduation date ? It is not a waste of money ?

Or step scores, if a program has a cut off on 83, should I send my application with my step 2 score 81 ? They are so strict or it is allways a door open to discution ?

If I match, give me your address, I will send you a good bottle of Bordeaux wine, it's quite expensive on that side of the ocean and of lowest quality... Laughing

You have to decide whether you should apply for those residency positions. In some cases, it may be hard cutoff, in other cases, they may still consider .

Best of luck for the match Laughing

step 3 exam doesnot matter. it is only worth as much as pass/fail. step 3 exam results may be used in fellowship ranking for some competitive schools.

What they undersand by "Continuing care" and "in-patient facilities" ?
I have a very bad score in these sections, cause of that my overall performance is average.

It is not "clinical therapeutics" and "clinical intervention" because here I have high score, I am confused...

CSS is very good also, surprising because the computer cases last very long, I quit the exam room with the strange sensation that something was wrong...
