Hi,
I am on F-1 visa (OPT till Dec 07), currently working in a for-profit company. My employer wants to file J-1 visa for me and then file for the HRR waiver. I understand that J1 doesn't have the "minimum salary" requirement as H1, but is there a "Maximum salary limit" applied to J1 visas? I'm wondering because J1 is meant to be an "exchange visitor" visa, and someone told me that there may be a salary ceiling beyond which your employer cannot pay an employee on J1 if they want to. Also what is the best way to convert from F1 to J1? I understand I'll have to file for a "change of status" (I-539 and DS-2019). Is there anything else required?
Thanks a lot,
Kishore |
