| Hi, is it mandatory to have the letter of need from the home country, or can I just apply to the hospitals that sponsor J 1 visas without the letter? Does it always have to be through the ECFMG or the hospitals can deal with this issue? Thanks |

you can apply to any hospital that takes J1 visa. Once you get selected, the hospital will guide you on how to get J1 visa.
So dont worry about those. These are simple steps to follow once you get selected. |

Hi, so if a understood well, I don't need the letter of need from my home country minister of health in order to apply for any hospital that sponsors the J1?
Are there two different mechanism of visa sponsorship? 1- ECFMG or 2- Hospitals , or are both the same?
And another thing, if a Hospital says that it does sponsor the visa THROUGH the ECFMG, does the same apply ( That I do not need to provide the letter to the hospital)?
thanks again |

You dont need letter for applying to the hospital.
Once you get the residency position, the hospital will instruct on the details. Only ECFMG can sponsor J1 visas. |

I m sorry, as you imagine, I am IMG, and I don't know what MAPS means or how it got to the subject of my first message. What I do know is that it will be extremely difficult for me to get the letter of need. If you could explain what does MAPS mean, I will appreciate it very much.
Thanks once more for your information |

teresita, dont worry about, we have auto-spam protection software running on our box. That software changed the word "letter of need" to "MAPS" for spam protection reasons. |
