Time required to get the ECFMG certification

ECFMG certification time · Guest **posting in usmle forum about USMLE Step 3**

I am planning to apply for the post match scramble. In order to do that ,I believe that I need to have the ECFMG certificate before march 14th. I am expecting my step 2 ck score somewhere in the feb last week/march 1st week. Is there anyway that I can speed up the certification process? Or do I hav to wait for 2 weeks for it?

And is it true that I dont need the certification if i apply only for J1?

Inorder to apply for the match, you need to be ECFMG certified and there is no way you could speed up the process except to wait for the results. But for scramble, I am not sure whether you need the ECFMG certificate because that depends on the program. Most programs prefer GC holders or citizens in the scramble or rarely they take people who need visa, but have completed all the exams. Hope that helps
