If you have very strong desire to do MD in US, you will be able to secure a position.

Quitting your job and spending all the money in US for relocation also doesnot make any sense, either.

If you feel the job is taking all the energy from you, then quit your job and prepare USMLE. USMLE is conducted in many countries. So should try to take all exams available at your home country and then come to US for step 2 CS and interviews.

Kaplan courses are also available in many countries and I think it will be available in your country too.

Save the bulk of money for your interviews. It can be costly, especially if you figure that you have to stay in hotel and airlines tickets to and from your home country.

Dear All

Thanks for any one can advice me,I really need you all to advice me.

I am GP working as a medical officer, full time since 1999.
I am trying to do USMLE since that time, but the problem is that i dont have enough time to read.
I did my first step at 22/03/2005,i didnt get the result yet,but i think i will not make it.
I read recently that kaplan medical offeres courses (combo),and i am thinking to attend theses courses may be it will help me.

Here is the problem
My monthly income is around 3500$,till now i saved around 30,000.00$,and this all what i have if i resigned from my current job to go to states.

Do you think, this sum of money will be enough if i go to state, from this money i will pay for the courses, for health insurance, for a flat ( coz i dont know any body in the states),my daily life expenses and all 3 steps fees.

If some body of you were at my position, will he leave his job and go to attend these courses, especially when there is no body supporting you.

Please tell me what to do,shall i continue in my current position and try to get usmle while i am working ( which i think it will take long time),or shall i go to the states, and start studying full time may be this will help me to pass the exams faster

thanks for all of u
