is J1 to H1 or green card

hi my wife entered in britain with J1 status as postdoc. with one year visa from india. now we want to stay here more. what is the best option either we try for J1 to H1 or directly for Green card. i know for both i need wavier.

J1 to H1 with waiver will need 3 years and then only you can apply for GC.

GC can be applied via Employment based category based on:
a) a job ( for this you need a employer who can sponsor you)
b) national interest waiver (for this you can apply yourself)

so in approx 5 years from the time your wife start working, you may get the GC.
