Why H1 visa?

If getting H1 visa is very difficult, competitive and requires a lawyer and other complicated paper works, then why every body wants to run after H1 visa. Can't IMgs go for J1 visa and then work in HSA areas as a waiver job?

Why HSA areas are called difficult areas?. whats the crieria in US to say that a particular place is a difficult area for IMG? Is it so diffcult to get waiver job in those areas or is there strong competition for getting job in difficult areas also.

Since J1 visa gives an easier option and oppurtunity for applying for more residency programmes compared to H1 visa, it sounds more sensible to apply for J1 visa and then after finishing residency, write step 3 when you are working in a so called " difficult area or HSA areas" Is it ok?

Please advise.

As i told you before, H1 visa does not have a requirement that you have to leave US after residency. So it becomes more convenient.

J1 visa has this requirement that you have to leave US for two years. Unless you have job (most docs easily get jobs), you have to leave US. Also, having a J1 visa can hinder you not able to apply for a green card as dependent on your spouse's green card application ( in case your spouse is working and the company is sponsoring visa for your spouse)

The choice has to be made, what are your priorities and what is important?

HPSA are not difficult areas, but the salaries tend to slightly lower than traditional places for J1 visa waiver candidate as the employer in those places try to take advantage of the situation of the candidate. Not too bad ofcourse.
