What can an ECFMG doctor work as other than taxi driver while studying for exams?
Can they work in a office setting as a nurse or medical assitant?

If the IMG has other legal visa that allows him to work, then it is ok. Else, it can cause lot of problems for the IMG when:
(a) he is required to apply for a visa (J1 visa or H1B visa)
(b) and if he applies for the green card.

That part I understand. I am talking about before one actually passes the USMLE and gets the ECFMG certificate. Can one work as a nurse, medical assitant in a medical office?
I am currently working on my exams but I need to make some money to live. I have heard of otheres working as assitants in a medical office , or doing insurance exams.
I was offered a job in a medical office to put patients in, draw blood and give immunizations. Can I do that with my M.D.?

If you are qualified and you got a job, why not? How should this affect you?

Most nurse and medical assistant jobs require their respective qualifications. Ofcourse, you can always do some work but not in the official capacity of M.D.
