Hi, I am still waiting for my contract. I should get it within 1to 2 weeks time. My question is how long does it take to complete all the paper work for a j1 visa. My joining date is 1st July. Please help me with your suggestions. Thanks in advance.

The paperwork for J1 can get done soon from ECFMG end. The biggest trouble is getting letter from the Ministry of Health from your home country. That is tough part. So if you can resolve this fast, you can get your paperwork done faster.

If you are currently in US, then your work is done after this. But if you are still in the home country, you would need to find consular dates for interview. In some countries, they backlog for few months.

Best of luck for your residency.
