second attempt SOS

hello, i am an IMG, i have 82 and 88, second attempt in the step 2. How bad is to have a second attempt, is there anything I can do to make it up? I have research and observerships, 3 LoR for pediatrics. I applied to 50 hospitals and I have 3 interviews so far, 2001 graduate. Should I call the programs? what are my possibilities? Sorry I asked so many questions, but I am really worry.

Thanks

You need to give some more information about yourself to reply more objectively. The biggest influence is whether you have a green card or citizenship. If you have it, nothing matters. I am seeing over and over again.

I want to be true to you, I think 3 interviews is less. Generally, 7-8 interviews is considered good. Also, I would advise you to apply for some hospitals. Usually, about 70-80 hospitals would be considered an appropriate number.

Also, if you need a visa, which visa are you looking for? H1 or J1 visa. H1 visa is more competitive. Also, community colleges will be easier to get in, if you need a visa. Also, the colleges close to where you stay give you more priority to take you. North-east states are more receptive to foriegners. West and Mid-west hospitals have bias against IMGs.

Also, you marks are good. They are mid-range and you should not get discouraged. There are lot of fake people in other websites. So dont get disappointed with stupid comments in other websites.

Hi I am preparing for step3. I need suggestions regarding what books to study for step3, duration and if Kaplan books and videos are sufficient or you need additional materials besides Kaplan. Please advice. Thanks in advance
