| Step 3 is required only if you need H1B visa, otherwise you could complete step 3 after starting residency. If you need h1 b, then you need to complete step 3 ideally before applying for a position. Some programs have specific requirements- some require you to complete it before interview, some require it by January, some require it by March or before starting residency. Hope this helps. |

In order to participate in match, you need to be ECFMG certified. So you need to complete Step1, Step 2 CK and Step 2 CS before February end when you will submit your rank list. But, most programs prefer candidates who have completed all the exams before applying for a residency position. So, if you have completed Step 1 and 2Ck and CS and ECFMG certified by August, it would be highly favorable for you as you start applying on September 1st. However, some programs might consider candidates who have not yet completed all the steps, but they will usually give you the deadline by which you should be ECFMG certified in order for them to rank you. Since, you don't have Step 1 scores in high 90's, I would suggest you to complete the exams and be ECFMG certified before applying for a residency position. If you need H1 B visa, then you can start studying for Step 3 while attending interviews and complete it by December or January. Hope this helps. |

| I would not suggest you to join these services, since they do not give you any guarantee. They charge a huge sum of money and you may end up with nothing. It would be much better if you take the initiative and contact your local hospitals or other hospitals which offer observerships (search their website or email them) and get some experience. |
