J1 VISA ISSUE! HELP!

Hi! I'm an IMG and Canadian citizen. I've heard it's very difficult manage J1 visa for med.residency purpose if one is Canadian citizen? Is that true?
Is it true that for J1 visa one needs to show that the country of his/her residence needs trained doctors from abroad! Canada apparently doesn't need that. While registering with ECFMG I've mentioned Canada to be my current residence since that's where I'm living for the last 5 yrs and will do so in future. If I knew this issue I could mention my home-country as residence. Now what should I do? Please suggest.

First of all, it is totally untrue. I might go an extend to say that opposite might be true. Mostly my general experience is that US provides people in Western Hemisphere ( developed countries) a faster and easier lane.

You have three visa options to do residency if you are Canadian citizen-
a) H1 B visa
b) J1 visa
c) TN visa

I would tell you to take a look at TN visa. Most easiest visa to get and easier to maintain. The only hassle to renew it every year.
