research experience ? PCR ?

hello everybody,,,,,

I still didn't finish my USMLE exams. During this time, wanna work as research assistant. The prophessor wants me to work with the PCR (in viral detection in diarrhea) and said "working with PCR will help me in the application for a residency in the states"...

Is this true ?
or is he only trying to get me to work with the PCR ?

plz
need to know asap b4 I give him my final word

Working as "research assistant" can boost your application profile.

Please take a look at the Sample Application Forms on our website:
http://usmleweb.com/showarticlebd.html

In two sample applications, you see that there is a space where you have an option to let the residency PDs know about your experience.

It is always considered favourably if you have clinical externships or observerships or some research experience.
