Dont worry, aster!
The US scoring system is not fair. The marks you may get vary greatly with the exam questions set you get for the exam.
You should be thinking of scoring above 90 in step 2 that should give you a boost. Be well prepared for the exam, and dont leave any thing for chance!
Then at the time of residency interview, you can tell the Program Director that you were sick during step 1 exam or something like that!!!
If you are an IMG and need visa, then you should think of joining Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or other medical specialities that are less competitive. |

Hi Aster.
As Root suggested you should work hard to get higher score, preferably above 90% in Step 2 ck, and advise you to do step 3 if possible.
Besides the score, there are other factors which can help you getting the residency. Because we see people getting the Match with lower scores than some other people with much higher scores. Therefore do not get despaired with your score.
Are you an Ethiopian? Guessing from your name.
Good luck.
