Would be gratefule for some advice:
I am a UK graduate who has completed the MRCS (post-grad surgical exams), 3 years of surgical SHO training in general surgery, cardiothoracics, trauma, orthopaedics and critical care (I think this is equivalent to the US residency program).
I am sure many of you are aware of the current kaos in medical traning in UK.
I am therefore keen to pursue cardiothoracic surgical training in US with no intention to permanently reside in US.
1. What are the prospects for UK graduates who want surgical/cardiothoracic surgical training?
2. Do US authoraties recognise UK training/qualifications?
Would be grateful for any advice or experiences. |

US does recognize UK qualifications just like from any other country. You still to go through step1,2 ck, 2cs, and 3 and go through the residency.
Getting a residency position in surgery is little tough, but if you have good marks in usmle steps and since you have background working in Western countries, you should be treated favorably. |
