i am final yr resident in orthopaedic surgery in india completed my usmle step 1 score 88 would be taking step 2 in june . how should i procced to apply for orthopaedic residency in states being aware of the fact that it is next to impossibe for a fmg to match in ortho prograame in states ,,
It is very very difficult to get ortho residency in the US, esp for an IMG. Always have a back up plan. If you really want to do ortho residency, then try getting clinical experience by doing rotations in ortho and start making contacts. Also, concentrate on your next steps to get more than 90 score. It would be simpler if you have no visa issues too. Although it is said easily, it is very difficult to get the experience. You need to try harder and not to give up.Good luck |
