H1 visa from a consulate abroad..

Hi Root and others,

Root u stated in one of the posts "it much easier to get your H1 visa from a consulate abroad than getting J1 visa for an IMG"

Can u plz clear this statement. Is it possible 4 us to apply for H1B via US consulate in India rather than d University in US applying on our behalf.

Plus sum1 told me that if we indicate them that we are ready to bear the expenditure for H1B visa application the university people myt be bent to offer to apply for an H1B visa. How feasible is this. And how much would it drain our pockets??
